Functional Nutrition Counseling
Functional Nutrition Counseling is an individualized, holistic approach to health that focuses on identifying and addressing the underlying root causes of health issues rather than just managing symptoms.
It considers various body systems, how they contribute to overall well-being, and then aims to clear, calm and optimize the proper functioning of these systems.

Individualized Approach: It recognizes that each person is unique, and their health concerns may have different underlying causes. Functional Nutrition Counseling works to understand an individual's specific health history, genetics, lifestyle, and dietary habits to create a personalized plan.

Holistic Perspective: It considers the whole person, including physical, mental, and emotional aspects of health. This approach aims to balance and optimize overall well-being rather than just treating isolated symptoms.

Root Cause Analysis: Functional Nutrition Counselors seek to identify the root causes of health issues, which may include dietary imbalances, food sensitivities, inflammation, gut health, hormonal imbalances, and lifestyle factors.

Prevention and Wellness: While it can address existing health concerns, Functional Nutrition Counseling also emphasizes preventive measures to maintain good health and prevent future issues.

Nutrient-Dense Diet: It promotes the consumption of nutrient-dense, whole foods that provide essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to support the body's natural healing processes.

Lifestyle Modifications: In addition to dietary changes, it may recommend lifestyle modifications such as stress management, exercise, sleep improvement, and reducing environmental toxins.

Education and Empowerment: Functional Nutrition Counselors educate clients about their health conditions and empower them with the knowledge and tools to make informed decisions about their diet and lifestyle.

Collaborative Approach: It often involves collaboration with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians and holistic practitioners, to provide a comprehensive and integrative approach to healthcare.
Functional Nutrition Counseling is particularly beneficial for individuals dealing with chronic health issues, autoimmune disorders, digestive problems, hormonal imbalances, and other conditions where conventional medicine may not provide satisfactory answers or long-term solutions. It aims to promote optimal health and well-being by addressing the root causes of health concerns and supporting the body's natural ability to heal.

My Story
I am Ashley Serveta, Functional Nutrition Counselor, Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner, Licensed & Certified Medical Electrologist and Licensed Cosmetologist. I am the owner of Renew Laser & Aesthetics in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida and I provide counseling services to my clients from all across the world. Early on in my career, I quickly noticed that the majority of the type of clientele who was seeking me out for medical hair removal (Laser and Electrolysis) and skincare treatments were women who were suffering from hormonal imbalances like Hirsutism and Poly-cystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS). I've always felt the need to educate my clients on how treatments like Laser Hair Removal can only target the hair from the 'outside' but if the underlying cause is creating the unwanted hair growth, like an excess of Androgens, it is important to focus on healing the root-cause of that in order to see real results. I've recommended so many clients to seek out a specialist for their health conditions to get to the bottom of the issue only for my clients to return and consistently tell me the same thing: "the doctor said I'm fine", "they said there's really nothing that can be done", "I'm just going to have to live with this." Dissatisfied with the consistent dismissive responses my clients received from conventional doctors, I began to recognize a glaring gap in healthcare and decided to integrate Functional Nutrition Counseling and add holistic health therapies to my list of services to help my clients address their health issues comprehensively.
Unfortunately, as I found out later during my studies in Functional Nutrition, the truth is, conventional medicine doesn't ask why a problem is occurring or "where is it stemming from?". And the reason for that is, it is simply outside of their scope of practice to do so. For instance, when you go to a Dermatologist with a concern about a lingering, red, rough, itchy, flaking patch on your hand, they don't stop to ask "why is this happening? "They simply call it Eczema, write you a prescription steroid and send you on your way. The problem is that Eczema often returns because the diagnosis isn't a root-cause; it's a 'branch', a 'symptom' that manifests due to an underlying reason... an inflammatory response from somewhere in your system(s) that needs to be addressed. It can be digestive, immune related, stress related, allergy related... the list goes on and honestly, it is out of the Dermatologist's scope of practice to look deeper because they are not educated on auto-immune conditions, gut function / digestion, immune system, stress or adrenal fatigue, (etc.) they are trained to determine what that patch is and to write a prescription for it. That's it. It takes someone who really cares and who is not afraid to put forth the necessary effort to see the person as a unique individual and understand that two people who seem to have the same 'condition' may have gotten to that point by entirely different ways. One may have gotten there from stress while another individual, perhaps diet. This area is where I personally felt most passionate.
This route to wellness comes naturally to me and sits well with my soul. As a child, with my Greek upbringing, I was influenced by Ancient Medicine thanks to both of my grandmothers. We would regularly eat dandelion greens, drink chamomile or mountain sage tea, add plenty of oregano, rosemary and other yummy herbs and spices to our foods. We eat with intention and believe each food has its purpose. Because of this, I gravitate toward a natural route to health and wellness. And while it may be in my DNA, my clients will tell you it's very much my passion as I'm a relentless researcher eager to provide information.

When I'm not working with clients, I am either listening to my favorite Functional Medicine doctors, taking a Master Class on specific alternative therapies or detoxes, or reading books on Ayurveda, Chinese Medicine, Essential Oils and their uses, Ancient Remedies, Reflexology, Gut Health, Acupressure, the power of breathing and more. I am quite literally (happily) immersed.

My dedication to my clients' well-being is unwavering, and I have a passion for thorough research, delving deep into understanding individual health cases to provide personalized attention.

I firmly believe in treating my clients as unique individuals, recognizing that there is no one-size-fits-all approach to dietary regimens. Tailoring my recommendations to suit the specific needs of each person I work with is of utmost importance. I strive to foster a nurturing environment where clients feel valued and heard throughout their wellness journey.

With my extensive knowledge in functional nutrition, I strive to offer the highest quality information and guidance on self-treatment options. I am committed to staying up-to-date with the latest research and advancements in the field, ensuring my clients receive the most current and relevant advice.

Through my holistic approach, I aim to empower my clients to take charge of their health, lifestyle, and nutrition choices. Understanding one's current health state is paramount to making informed decisions about well-being, and I work to educate and guide my clients towards sustainable health improvements.

As a result of my tireless dedication, I have gained a reputation as a trusted and compassionate practitioner, helping individuals on their path to optimal health and wellness.

What's the step-by-step process?
Step 1: Fill out the Get To Know You Survey and Submit!

Step 2: Once received, your submission will be reviewed and Ashley will call you at the number you provided for a brief 15-20 minute phone call to get some of your questions answered and to determine if you would be a good fit for each other.

Step 3: If it's a YES, you will then be provided with pricing options along with the comprehensive Intake Form. You will fill out the Intake Form and return it to Ashley.

Step 4: Ashley will thoroughly review the comprehensive Intake Form and create notes to address anything further that she may need during your first scheduled counseling session. She will then contact you to set up your first counseling session.

Step 5: The first counseling session (1-Hour) is dedicated to creating a Health History Timeline based on the information Ashley gathered during the session and from the Intake Form. The intention of this first session is not to make any recommendations. Rather, this session is to delve deep into your particular case to get a comprehensive understanding of what areas may need more attention in order to map out the next steps.

Step 6: After the first counseling session, Ashley will take time to map out and complete a Matrix based on the information gathered from the session. Once complete, Ashley will be contacting you to schedule your Second Session.

Step 7: The second session (1-Hour) will discuss your challenges, Ashley's recommendations and next steps. This session ends the Premier Case Review (PCR) offering. If appropriate, you will be invited to continue working with Ashley via a counseling package or individual counseling sessions.

Step 8: Ashley will create and deliver a personalized Action Form along with the offer of any next steps.
